General Configuration Management

In order to make changes to a Lisk Node installation you need to stop the client. Below are the steps to stop the Lisk process for each type of distribution and accessing the config file.

Instructions for stopping Lisk Node - Binary Installation

Copy the following code block into your SSH session in order to stop Lisk.

bash lisk.sh stop

Once Lisk Node has stopped you can access the config file by following Accessing config.json for editing -- All Deployments

Instructions for stopping Lisk Node - Source Installation

Copy the following code block into your SSH session in order to stop Lisk.

forever stop app.js

Once Lisk Node has stopped you can access the config file by following Accessing config.json for editing -- All Deployments

Instructions for stopping Lisk Node - Docker Installation

Follow the steps below to get the docker container ID and access the config file.

Get the docker container id:

docker ps -a

Substitute the container ID found above:

docker exec -it container_id bash

Once the Bash shell has opened you can continue on to the next step to access the config file.

Accessing config.json for editing -- All Deployments

export TERM=xterm; nano config.json

At this point you can now edit your config.json and make the necessary changes for your environment. Please follow one or all of the documents below for more information.

Starting Lisk

Once changes are made to the config file, Lisk needs to be started. The following steps provide the required syntax to start Lisk for each type of installation.

Instructions for starting Lisk - Binary

Start Lisk with lisk.sh

bash lisk.sh start

Start Lisk with PM2

pm2 start app.js
Instructions for starting Lisk - Docker

Exit the bash shell for Docker

exit

Restart the docker container using the container_id found previously

docker restart container_id
