Hello Jurre. Thank you for joining the Lisk Builders program and our “Lisk Builders interviews” blog series. Please tell us a bit about yourself.

Jurre: Hi, I am Jurre and a member of the Moosty team. We are a relatively small team consisting of three participants, Sander, Raphael and myself.

We call ourselves a multidisciplinary project team and work on innovative solutions. We run the Lisk Center in Utrecht and focus on helping to grow the developer ecosystem, whilst working on our own ideas simultaneously.

We believe that blockchain technology will reinvent many organizational forms, even the way we organize value creation as a society. We enjoy being part of this innovative journey.

How did you learn about Lisk and the Lisk Builders program?

Jurre: We have been following the developments of Lisk since 2016 and are actively participating in the Lisk community since 2017.

We have been exploring different blockchain initiatives and decided to focus our time and effort on one ecosystem to learn about the technological developments, as well as the dynamics of blockchain communities.

We were introduced to the Lisk project through a friend and supported the vision of making blockchain accessible and scalable (through JavaScript), including the interoperability solution of sidechains.

Due to our daily involvement in the Lisk Center in Utrecht, we keep a close eye on all steps that are taken by Lightcurve and the Lisk Foundation.

What was your motivation to apply for the Lisk Builders program?

Jurre: Our goal for 2020 was to build five separate proof of concepts and it seemed a logical step to submit them into the Lisk Builders program. Four of them have been chosen to be part of the Lisk Builders program:

1. Lisk DAO - A project to create decentralized organizations with first decision mechanisms (this was created together with Peter Nobels). 2. Lisk Recurring Payments - A project to create peer-2-peer contracts with recurring payments. 3. Lisk Crowd - A regulated crowdfund project. 4. Lisk Ticketing - A new approach to ticket sales in which fraud will be made more difficult, and event organizers can effectively manage the entire process, including the secondary market.

How was your development experience with the Lisk SDK?

Jurre: Every new version of the Lisk SDK made it easier to create our PoCs and build more complex applications.

With the introduction of the modules and transaction asset structure in version 5 of the SDK, we were able to create a more modular application making it now possible to reuse modules for different projects.

Do you have any development experience with other blockchain SDKs? If so, please share your experience in comparison to developing with the Lisk SDK.

Jurre: We do not have any previous development experience with other blockchain platforms.

We do keep up to date with various other blockchain based projects (e.g. Polkadot, Cosmos, Cardano, Ethereum, etc.), to continue learning and to be inspired. Unfortunately, due to our already broad focus, we cannot dive into more communities and build on different platforms.

What are your plans with the Lisk Ticketing project? Will you continue to develop it further?

Jurre: Yes, we plan to get in touch with different organizations and innovators to exchange ideas and develop it together with potential future users. Maybe we will even reach out to the middle man organization, Ticketswap, to see if we can help them to automate their business.

In the future, we see our ticketing solution as part of a larger set of services that relate to the music/entertainment industry.

Do you plan to build another blockchain application with the Lisk SDK in the future?

Jurre: Yes, we have a list full of ideas of PoCs to build with the Lisk SDK. As the interoperability direction and implementation will have an impact on the development of these concepts, we will postpone most of the projects until Lisk.js 2021, where the Lisk interoperability plans will be revealed. Until then we will continue working on the Lisk DAO platform and some smaller fun Lisk related projects or tools such as our agnostic explorer.

Would you recommend other developers to build their blockchain applications with the Lisk SDK?

Jurre: Definitely. Blockchain development is still in its infancy which means that we will be developing different kinds of blockchain protocols for years to come.

With the Lisk SDK we can use the language of the web, JavaScript, which we also use for other websites, webshops, server-side development, and additional tooling. Maybe even more important is the modularity of the SDK and the possibility to build these modules ourselves, just like with other JavaScript libraries.

The more modules, services, and plugins that are developed, the easier it is to create your own application and connect it to the front-end of your choice. Furthermore, as Lisk focuses on the developer experience we can expect additional tools to make it easier for us to keep on innovating.
