What is blockchain technology?
Blockchain is a public ledger of information collected through a network that sits on top of the internet. It is how this information is recorded that gives blockchain its groundbreaking potential.
What is a cryptocurrency?
A cryptocurrency is a digital form of money built on blockchain technology that only exists online. Cryptocurrencies use cryptography to verify and secure transactions, hence their name.
What is decentralization?
One of the most exciting aspects of blockchain technology is that it's entirely decentralized. We examine how this system works, what it means for our future and why it is so revolutionary.
What's a consensus protocol?
A consensus protocol is what keeps all the nodes on a network synchronized, while providing an answer to the question: how can we all make sure that we agree on what the truth is?
What is a node?
A node can be any active electronic device as long as it is connected to the internet. The role of a node is to support the network by maintaining a copy of the blockchain and, in some cases, to process transactions.
What is an ICO?
An Initial Coin Offering is a form of fundraising for blockchain projects, wherein cryptocurrencies are offered to investors before they are listed on exchanges. In this segment we will share successful examples, examine how ICOs work and how to safely participate.
Which consensus is Lisk using?
Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) is the protocol of choice at Lisk and with very good reason. DPoS uses real-time voting combined with a social system of reputation to achieve consensus.
How does Lisk ensure security?
Lisk uses cryptographic hashing in order to secure all aspects of the system. The system uses EdDSA as it provides a much faster mechanism for hashing and providing security.
Is there incentive for running a node?
Lisk provides several incentives for securing the network. As an active delegate, you can earn block generation rewards and accrue transaction fees for the round in which you participate.
How to install Lisk Core?
In order to run Lisk Core, there are some prerequisites to satisfy each distribution type. First choose your desired distribution method and then head over to Lisk's technical documentation to get hands on guidance for Binary, Docker and Source installations.
